Although it is relatively unheard of compared to Pakistan’s famous tourist destinations, I think the Yarkhon Valley was the most beautiful place in the country that I visited. Located in the Upper Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Yarkhon shines through its mountain ranges and untouched villages.

Getting to the valley, which is several kilometers from the administrative town of Mastuja, requires some effort if you do not have your own vehicle. If you have one, the ride isn’t too bad – just get ready for most of the dirt roads!

The valley towards Gazin is definitely worth a detour if you take it to Yarkhon. Here, you can see the mountains near Thui, a high pass that connects Upper Chitral with Yasin Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Phander Lake, located in the village of Phander, is almost as beautiful as it is true. Lake Tail sits quietly among the light green trees that are perfect for landscape painting.

Despite being extremely beautiful, Lake Phandar is nowhere near as popular as Lake Attabad.

During the 4 days I spent relaxing by the lake in Phander, I did not encounter any other tourist. If you visit, I suggest you stay in the lake, which is a short distance away and charges Rs. 1,000 per night.

There is also an expensive (Rs. 5,000) PTDC overlooking the lake, but the hospitality and value at Lake Inn is high.

Phandar Valley in Ghazar District is one of the most beautiful valleys with easy access from both Gilgit and Chitral. It takes 5 to 6 hours to reach Phinder Valley from Gilgit, commonly known as “Little Kashmir”. Phandar Lake is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region. The Phandar Valley was a loaf of bread for the entire northern region. Ghazar is named after a village called Ghazir which is located around Phinder. The deep blue lake in Phandar offers a spectacular view and is mainly home to trout fish.

One of the most beautiful valleys in the world. Lush and green, wide, flat and a dead river flowing across it. Such beautiful scenery can only be imagined. This trout is very famous for its fish. There is a lake at the eastern end of the valley and at the top of a hill above the lake are Phandar Lake and Phindar Rest House which provide excellent service for tourists. The people of this valley are simple, hardworking and very hospital. Tourist guides and fishing tackles are always available.

Broghil Valley

The valley is located in the upper reaches of the beautiful district of Chitral in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Brugel Valley is the ultimate destination for adventure seekers, trekkers, and nature or wildlife photographers. The valley is surrounded by snow-capped peaks, glaciers and deep ravines. Snow, mountains and glacial masses are the fundamental motivations behind for what reason its magnificence has remained moderately immaculate by the rest of the world. The best thing to see these valleys are their simple and hospitable people who make this valley one of the best places to visit in Pakistan.

The valleys of Kalash, consisting of Bambort, Rimbor and Barrier, are home to the Kalash people, a religious and ethnic minority in Pakistan with their own beliefs, culture and language. The valleys they live in are certainly the absolute most wonderful spots in Pakistan – for their normal quality as well as for the excellence of Kalash itself.

The valley of Rimbor is especially magnificent. Here, along the Kalash River, many kilometers of dusty roads and mountains rumble. The Kalash people live in wooden houses perched on high hills, and the women are especially famous for their brightly colored traditional dress and headgear which is different from anything found in Pakistan.

Being just 2.5 hours away from Chitral city, it is very easy to reach a single valley these days. If you decide to go to Rimbour, take a day out all the way through the valley. The last settlement of Rambor is Sheikhandah, a former Nuristani village whose inhabitants migrated across the border to Pakistan a few hundred years ago.
